Family run building company
We take great pride in all of our work, and much of the work we take on come’s through recommendation. Our aim is to become the best at what we do.
We have many contacts around the West Berkshire area, particularly in Thatcham and Newbury and are able to call on many trade’s men from different backgrounds. Due to the broad range of construction work we carry out, we know tradesmen in a great variety of fields, and can find the right man to suit the job.
Michael Byrne
Mike formed Greenham Construction in 1993, after a long career within Civil Engineering. Mike's career started at 18 working for George Wimpey as an apprentice carpenter on multi storey flats in the Midlands. At 21 Mike then joined Lyndsey Parker as a charge hand carpenter on the Midland Links, being promoted a year later to Foreman Carpenter on the Midland Links Via-duct. It was then down to the M4 in Berkshire as Section Foreman for road and bridge building. After many jobs Mike rose to Works Manager on the M56 in Manchester, followed by the A38 in Devon. For all other works see company history. In 1993 Mike set up Greenham Construction, aiming primarily at the domestic market. However, with such a wealth of construction knowledge and contacts, Mike was soon being asked to carry out all sorts of projects, from installing works of art to digging industrial machine pits, and from building churches to building schools. With over 46 years of construction experience under his belt, Mike is confident in tackling any job that comes his way.
Matthew Byrne
Matthew started out in construction from a very early age, often spending school holidays working on site and pulling his weight. After finishing his degree in Environmental Science, Matt joined the company as an apprentice carpenter, completing his time, and spending as much time as possible gaining as much experience as he could. Matt then went on to become Foreman on a number of jobs, ranging from domestic to commercial and industrial works. In 2009 Matt became a partner in the company, and was made a director. Matt has worked hard to bring in all the latest technology and knowledge on building practices and materials (with an emphasis on Green Technology), so that Greenham Construction can stay ahead of the competition, and become a leader in a rapidly changing market.
